Ever wondered why your 2-1B mouthpiece doesn’t fit properly? …Or why it keeps popping out of his mouth? For those of you that had paid attention in the previous instalment, you’d have noticed that different factories have different mouth sockets! Well fear not as this simple guide will help you identify these accessories and correctly match them up.

M1: SMILE

EARLY RELEASE
  • Single rib on each side of the mouth connector
  • Found with cavity no’s 1 to 8

(small) 1980 MADE IN HONG KONG COO & NOCOO
LATER RELEASE
  • Mouth connector widened
  • Ribs modified (soften and one removed)
  • EPM added to even cavity no’s only

M2: Unitoy

M3: Kader

(large) 1980 MADE IN HONG KONG COO
  • Two ribs present on both sides of the mouth connector
  • Found with cavity no’s 2,4,6 or 8
  • Large EPM on connector strap
(large) 1980 MADE IN HONG KONG COO
  • No ribs on mouth connector
  • Found with cavity no’s 3, 5 or 7 (1 has not yet been confirmed)
  • Small EPM on connector collar
