A GUIDE TO VINTAGE STAR WARS FIGURES & ACCESSORIES

Sand People

DON’T RELY ON JUST THE COO TO IDENTIFY A FIGURE. Mould, paint colour, plastic colour and figure assembly traits are also needed to confirm your figure’s origins.

FIGURE GUIDE:
COLOUR OVERVIEW

Above you can see a comparison of all bandolier colours I have found so far. Family I and II as well as Family III, IV and V got mixed up in production at UNITOY and at KADER. All colours known to UNITOY can probably come on both families (I+II) as well as all colours known to KADER can probably come on all three families (II+IV+V).

You can check out the colours to POCH in comparison below.

COO Family I:

UNITOY

Above you can see the following Tuskens from the COO Fam.I (left to right):

  • UNIITOY very light brown bandolier and very light brown gloves.
  • UNITOY reddish light brown bandolier and dark brown gloves.
  • UNITOY brown bandolier and brown gloves.
  • UNITOY mud brown bandolier and dark brown gloves.
  • UNITOY dark brown bandolier and dark brown gloves.

Those usually came with M1 Gaderffii Stick.

Above you can see a comparison between the limbs from Family I and II and how they got mixed up in every way possible.

  • Fam.I left and right leg
  • Fam.I left leg and Fam.II right leg (smooth)
  • Fam.II left leg (smooth) and Fam.I right leg
  • Fam.II left and right leg (both smooth)

COO Family II:

UNITOY

Above you can see the following Tuskens from the COO Fam.II (left to right):

  • UNITOY brown bandolier and dark brown gloves.
  • UNITOY mud brown bandolier and dark brown gloves.
  • UNITOY dark brown brown bandolier and dark brown gloves.
  • UNITOY very dark brown bandolier and very dark brown gloves.
  • UNITOY No COO blackish brown bandolier and blackish brown gloves.

Those usually came with M1 Gaderffii Stick.

For the POCH version from Fam.II see below.

Above you can see the three head moulds that do exist for Fam.I and II:

  • UNITOY thick horns and fine detailed mouth piece present on Fam.I and Fam.II figures.
  • UNITOY thick horns and rough detailed lower right mouth piece present on Fam.I and Fam.II figures.
  • UNITOY late head mould with thin horns and a roughy detailed mouthpiece. This one only came with Fam.2 figures and is the only head mould that appeared on the Fam.II No Coo.

COO Family III:

KADER

Above you can see following Tuskens form the COO Fam.III (left to right):

  • KADER mud brown bandolier and dark brown gloves.
  • KADER dark brown bandolier and dark brown gloves.
  • KADER Hollow Tubes with very dark brown bandolier and very dark brown gloves (65, 77bk).

Those usually came with M2 Gaderffii Stick, whereas most of the Hollow Tubes variants were packed with M3 Gaderffii Stick.

COO Family IV:

KADER

Above you can see following Tuskens form the COO Fam.IV (left to right):

  • KADER brown bandolier and brown gloves.
  • KADER mud brown bandolier and mud brown gloves.
  • KADER dark brown bandolier and dark brown gloves.
  • KADER Hollow Tubes with very dark brown bandolier and very dark brown gloves (65, 77bk).
  • KADER Hollow Tubes with very dark brown bandolier and very dark brown gloves. This one only appeared on French Trilogo cardbacks and therefore is called “Meccano” variant.

Those usually came with M2 Gaderffii Stick, whereas most of the Hollow Tubes variants were packed with M3 Gaderffii Stick.

Above you can see a poor shot from Fam.IV 1b. These surface from time to time and should be mentioned here. They don’t find their way into the coo guide because it doesn’t come from an altered metal-mould.

For the POCH version from Fam.IV see below.

COO Family V:

KADER

Above you can see following Tuskens form the COO Fam.V (left to right):

  • KADER brown bandolier and dark brown gloves.
  • KADER mud brown bandolier and mud brown gloves.
  • KADER dark brown bandolier and dark brown gloves.
  • KADER Hollow Tubes with very dark brown bandolier and very dark brown gloves (65, 77bk).

Above you can see the four head moulds that do exist for Fam.III, IV and V:

  • KADER fat stumpy horns and short eyes present on Fam.III, IV and V.
  • KADER thick horns and short eyes present on Fam.III, IV and V.
  • KADER thick horns and long eyes present on Fam.III, IV and V (but most likely on Fam.V from my experience).
  • KADER Hollow Tubes with thin horns. This head mould also appeared on Fam.III, IV and V and was used along on the Fam.IV No COO (“Meccano”),

COO Family II / IV:

POCH

Above you can see following POCH Tuskens form the COO Fam.II and IV (left to right):

  • POCH Fam.II with light purple brown bandolier and dark brown gloves.
  • POCH Fam.II with dark purple brown bandolier and dark brown gloves.
  • POCH Fam.IV with dark purple brown bandolier and brown gloves.

Those usually came with M1 Gaderffii Stick, but also appeared with the M2 Gaderffii Stick.

Above you can see a comparison from the POCH bandolier colours to all known UNITOY and KADER colours. The purple hue to the brown is a unique POCH feature that seems only featured on the Spanish painted figures.
